Australia and New Zealand has protocoled of processing the mutually certification. They combined the name of standards, and start the beginning with “AS/NZS”. The certification which produced in Australia can also be adapted in New Zealand.
The electrical product certification in New Zealand and Australia includes Product Safety, Electromagnetic Compatibility and Energy Efficiency.
Product Safety Certification
The applicant provides CB certificate and report to certification institution in each state in New Zealand and Australia (ex. NSW, QLD, ESV, SAI, ITACS), and they apply certificate in accordance with the applicable standards of the product. Ex. The standard for I.T.E. products is AS/NZS60950.
The product can be sold in whole area in New Zealand and Australia only to apply the certificate from one state of the certification institutions.
The Product Safety Report and Plug Safety Report produced by ATC are approved by the local certification institutions in New Zealand and Australia. ATC is also authorized to issue the certificates without providing CB Report.
Electromagnetic Compatibility
ACMA(Australian Communications And Media Authority) is the institution of managing the telecommunications, radio communications, electromagnetic compatibility, electromagnetic radiation products. Once the declaration is confirmed, put “C-tick” or “A-tick” or “RCM” logo on the labels according to product categories. And also put the manufacturer code Nxxx which passed from applying ACA aside the logo.
ATC can provide different choices of agents due to different clients’ business models. We can also help to contact the local importers of the manufacturers with delivering test reports, and to inform the obligation and authority of product certification in Australia.
Energy Efficiency
Since October 1, 2012, Australian government has integrated mandatory Minimum Energy Performance Standards (referred as MEPS), Energy Rating Label Standards (ERLS) and Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3). The government has officially executed the brand new GEMS certification, and strengthened the responsibility of the manufacturer.
ATC can provide making or examining the energy efficiency report in short time, and have the manufacturer’s product information accurately login in GEMS systems, so they can get the sign approval in six weeks.
March 1, 2013, Australian government has integrated the new Electrical Equipment Safety Systems (EESS). EESS contains all Electrical Equipment Safety and EMC in every state of Australia and New Zealand. RCM will become the single regulatory compliance mark, which is managed by ERCA.
All suppliers are required to register in ABN system and get the account number, so that they can sell the product legally. The suppliers should be real manufacturers.
Manufacturers will get punishment if they disobey EESS requirement (Prohibit selling products, delays listing, recycling, fines etc.)
ERAC divide the products into 3 categories.
In II and III products, sign the product information in the ERCA website database, the Australian government will unify and manage it.
