Update on UAE National Conformity Marks and Energy Efficiency Labels

The Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT) of United Arab Emirates (UAE) has issued the announcement of updating national conformity marks and energy efficiency (EELS) labels through Resolution No. 137 on September 16th, 2024.

Mexico’s IFT Postpones Mandatory IFT Logo Implementation to July 1, 2025

Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (Instituto Federal de Telecomunicaciones, IFT) published a revised version of the "Guidelines for the Use of the IFT Seal on Homologated Telecommunications or Broadcasting Products, Equipment, or Devices" in the Official Gazette (Diario Oficial) on October 2, 2024.

Australia announced requirement for E-Bike, Electric scooter, Electric skateboard, and E-Bike Battery

The (NSW) New South Wales government in Australia announced on August 2, 2024 that it will include products such as electric bicycles, scooters, electric skateboards and related batteries into the scope of compulsory certification. It is expected that it will be mandatory from February 1, 2025. to satisfy with GAZETTE requirement.

Amendment 4 to AIS-156 Published on Dec. 20, 2023

Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) published the amendment 4 to AIS-156
on December 20, 2023, which has new requirements for swappable battery pack. And this
amendment comes into effect immediately.

SIRIM Resumes 2-Time Surveillance Audits per Year

To fulfill the requirement of Product Certification Scheme, SIRIM has resumed the requirement
of two surveillance audits for each SIRIM certificate from this year. Online factory audits are no longer accepted. SIRIM has also allowed their auditors to conduct factory audits in China. Only those complete surveillance audit twice can renew their SIRIM certificate.

MIC Issues QCVN 132:2022/BTTTT Electrical Safety Standard for ICT and ITE Products

On 30th November 2022, the Vietnam MIC (Ministry of Information and Communications of
the Socialist Republic of Vietnam) has issued Circular 24/2022/TT-BTTTT with accompanying
QCVN 132:2022/BTTTT Electrical Safety standard for ICT and ITE products. The QCVN 132:
2022/BTTTT standard is composed based on IEC 62368-1: 2018 and it will come into effect on
January 1, 2024.

Traction batteries will fall under COP requirements from 31st March 2023

Vide the notification G.S.R 888(E) on 19th December, 2022, the serial number entries 23 shall
be inserted after serial number 22 in rule 124, sub-rule (4) in the Central Motor Vehicles Rules,
1989. Traction Battery for Electric Power train Vehicles will be fall under the COP
requirements from 31st March, 2023.

Belarus suspended mandatory requirements for energy efficiency

Belarus government announced to suspend mandatory requirements for energy efficiency products from 01-01-2023. Until a special decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, the mandatory requirements for energy efficiency will remain suspended.

Changes to Applicable Standards for Medium-Risk Controlled Goods

The Consumer Product Safety Office, CPSO, published an announcement CPSO-310522-05 on May 31, 2022, in which it declared the change to applicable standards for medium-risk controlled goods. Please refer to Annex A for new standards.

Notification of AIS 156 Implementation

According to the notification released by MINISTRY OF ROAD TRANSPORT AND HIGHWAYS on December 27th, 2021, AIS-038 (Rev. 2) and AIS-156/2020 will be implemented and substitute AIS-038 (Rev. 1) / 2015 and AIS-048-2009 from December 27th, 2022.
